7 Reasons Christians Should Evangelize

7 Reasons to Evangelize
The Lord Jesus Christ has ministered to the world while he was on earth: He fed the hungry, He healed the sick, He broke the chain of oppress and He welcome to His arms those who are considered outcast by the society, especially of the Pharisees .

And at the age of 33, Jesus ascended to heaven to where he came from and now sit at the right hand of God having all the authority in heaven and in earth which He imparted to the disciples by commissioning them to go and make disciples of all nations: and the great commission consists of simple term to go and make disciples, to teach and to baptize. and he gave us the assurance to his disciples that he is with them even to the end of the age.

Even though the early Christians face opposition from the enemy of the gospel still they have stood firm for the truth that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah whom the nation Israel is waiting. And the Apostles had succeeded in witnessing for Christ and thousand of people converted to Christianity to become disciples of Jesus Christ.

And I think these men are persuaded by the need to evangelize:

1. The Worth of the Soul

In Mark 8: 35-38 Jesus talked about the value of a soul, that a person who is saved far precious than all the wealth of this world.

" For whoever wants to save their life  will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.  What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for his soul?   If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of the right hand  will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels. "

The apostles understand that the noblest task they are doing is to bring Christ to the people, He is drawing to the disciples.

2. The Fact of Hell (Revelation 20: 14-15)

According to some Pastors and Theologians, the Lord Jesus Christ had talked more about hell that heaven while he was on earth. It means he wants to give an emphasized about the nature of hell not cause fear to His hearers but to clarify its reality.

There was once a child who came to witness someone telling that "He should accept Christ because Hell is waiting for him if he is not going to accept Jesus as His Lord," then the man replied, "Is it not a wrong attitude to accept Jesus as Lord just because you are afraid of hell? " Then the child went silently on his way.

The reality is the right attitude to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord is not because of the fear of hell but because of understanding the Total Depravity of men - the inability of anyone to save himself from the wrath of God. We should be accepting Jesus because the Grace of God.

3. The Suffering of Christ on the Cross (Hebrews 9:28)

There would never be enough reason for Christians to witness for Jesus that for the reason of the understanding of the suffering of Christ. Men are born to be proud, being able to talk about every good deeds they have done, telling people how nice they are . So as Christians, we should be keeping on talking about the Grace of God, about the love of God which he expressed on the Cross.

The poverty of Christ had made rich Christians!

4. The emptiness, folly and vanity of this world (2 Timothy 3: 1-5)

In 2 Timothy 3: 1-5, it says

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive,
disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  without love, unforgiving, slanderous,
without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,  treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God -   having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. "

One of the greatest fear why we are afraid to witness is the knowledge of the nature of humanity - that humanity is naturally born boastful and proud, disobedient, not wanting to listen. So, the tendency is we do not want to share the gospel to the one we are not comfortable with. We oftentimes approach people who are friendly, nice and approachable but in sharing the gospel we should be forgetting our own preferences that hinders the advancement of God's kingdom. Let us not look on the outside appearance of men but let us look to a person with pity and love not wanting them to perish.

5. The glories of heaven drives a soul winner will have to share in these others (Luke 15: 7)

The Christians are not selfish people. They always wanting anybody to share what they have. That is the reason why we come to church every Wednesday for Prayer Meeting because we want to share to goodness of God even to that simple things which we receive from Him: strength, healing, provision and everything we want to share.

And as we desire our fellow Christians to share with our joy, there should be highest motivation to share the good news to the soul. Luke 15:7 tells us, "I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent." Our focus is to make heaven rejoice and bring people to rejoice with us.

6. The Personal Rewards that are offered to the faithful soul-winners (Matthew 25:21)

The Lord has a promise to his faithful servant who work for Him.
"His Master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and Share your Master's happiness!'"

What a great deal we have in Christ Jesus, not just He promised us eternal security but eternal rewards which will not perish and to share with His happiness.

7. The responsibility and accountability of every Christian ( Mat 25:14-30)

Someday we are all going to stand in the Judgement seat of Christ to give an account for every deeds we have done while we are on earth. He is going to reward us for everything but for the mean time our Master is all over watching us. He sees every action and thoughts and He listens to every words we have. I mean the greatest accountability we are facing is our accountability to God - not on our Pastors or anyone else except Christ.

May we all see and understand the need to share the good news of Christ. As John the Baptist prepared the way for Christ's Ministry. At present may we prepare the way of Christ for His Second Coming!
